David Salyers

What is your favorite quote?
“Leadership is the ability to turn intention into reality and sustain it.”
What fictional character would you want to be? Why?
Sherlock Holmes, because he helps good triumph over evil and solves so many mysteries by seeing things in unconventional ways and using counterintuitive methods. He sees the same things others see but thinks something different than others think. I also like the fact that he has his companion Dr. Watson with him every step of the way and works in such a collaborative way with others.

David Salyers is Vice President of Marketing for Chick-fil-A, Inc. In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors for several organizations, including ExecuTrain Corporation, Peachtree Partners, Inc., and the American Marketing Association. He was a member of Sales and Marketing Executives of Atlanta, the Midtown Alliance Leadership Development Program, and was a partner in Rocky Mountain Ventures LLC, a venture capital partnership. Currently, he is a member of the GSU Marketing Roundtable and is on the Board of Directors for Mobilization Labs, Roam Atlanta, the Chick- fil-A Bowl, and the Atlanta Sports Council.
Salyers was selected by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games to serve as the Envoy to the New Zealand Olympic Team. Additionally, he has served on the Board of several nonprofits, including Eagle Ranch, Inc., a home for needy children in North Georgia, and Art Within. He is currently on the Board of Family Wise, dedicated to children’s character development, and Israel-based Davar Partners.
Salyers is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program and graduated Cum Laude from the Business School at the University of Georgia, having also attended Wake Forest University and Universidad de Madrid as part of his undergraduate studies.
David and his wife, Lynn, and their three children live in Roswell, GA. He is a member of Northpoint Community Church, served on the stewardship team, and recently served a 3-year term as an Elder. He enjoys traveling with his family, snow skiing, water skiing and scuba diving.

C. Peyton Day is an entrepreneurial leader with proven experience growing and exiting profitable businesses. Day has held a series of progressive roles in the real estate development, hotel and hospitality and investment arena. Most recently, Day has served as Chairman and CEO of Atlanta-based Day Holdings, LLC (2005 to present) and Day Hospitality Group (1994-2005), which developed and managed award-winning hotels for the Marriott and Hilton brands.
Day serves as a director on several for profit and non-profit boards, the College of Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Haggai Institute. He has been an active member in the Young President’s Organization (YPO) and Buckhead Coalition. Day earned an MBA at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and holds a bachelor’s of science in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Peyton and his wife, Vicky, and their three children reside in Johns Creek, Ga. He is an elder at Perimeter Church, has coached high school football, and continues to mentor businessman and student athletes.

Stephanie Shackelford

What story does your family always tell about you?
As a little girl, every morning when I woke up, I would ask my mom, “What’s we gonna do today, Mommy?” I’ve always been excited to start the day and know what lies ahead.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?
I go for a run around the park.

Stephanie Shackelford has a passion for coaching teams and individuals to success. Consulting with organizations, such as Cisco Systems, YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and two startup nonprofits, Stephanie implemented organizational development plans for leadership effectiveness. She also has significant experience in the nonprofit field, working in development and grant-writing with organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Nashville Mobile Market, Faith Family Medical Clinic, Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, and Campus Crusade for Christ International.
She graduated with a Master’s of Education in Organizational Leadership from Vanderbilt University. She also received Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development.

What story does your family always tell about you?
My lacrosse team in high school was able to travel to London, England to play the UK National champs and the runner up. Such an awesome experience.
What fictional character would you want to be? Why?
Hermione from Harry Potter because she is brilliant and has cool powers. I am all about the mystical part of a movie.

Aubrey Byers is a senior at Georgia College University in Milledgeville, GA, where she is currently studying Marketing at the J. Whitney Bunting School of Business. Her passion and desire to lead resulted in her becoming the founder of the TOMS Campus Club at GCSU. The mission of the club is to contribute to the goal of TOMS shoes, that when one person buys a pair of TOMS shoes, TOMS donates another pair to a child in a less fortunate country. Her passion is not only in business but also in the giving and caring of others.
Aubrey also holds the position of promotion chair for the Global Business Student Leader Association (GBSLA). The mission of this club is to serve Georgia College University students, faculty, and staff by creating awareness among students of opportunities in the global business arena.
